Gunn for Hire – Episode 12 – “A Thousand Words”

There’s a lot of strange things in this world. For some folks, they like to say it’s magic, because they don’t understand it. Funny thing is, some of the time – they’re more right than they’d probably want to be. And for Irving Holt and Miles Pike, they’re about to find out that some magic may be darker than a back alley shadow at Midnight.

Oh, and one word of warning, some of the descriptions in this episode, get a little… vivid.

Gunn for Hire – Episode 10 – “Shades of Gray”

Nothing’s ever simple. And in Chicago in 1933, where the shadows grow nearly as long as the bread lines, everything is seven shades of complicated. And for Grace Gunn and Miles Pike, the paths they’re on are about to hit more twists and turns than the Monaco Grand Prix. But in a world where you swore you saw something you’ve never seen before and a black suited stranger insists you didn’t. What else would you expect?

Gunn for Hire – Episode 9 – “Tightrope”

You know that feeling when you go to the circus and watch the tightrope walker? That feeling in the pit of your stomach that one slip and the dangerous balancing act is over. Down she goes. Show over. You want her to make it across but each step’s an agony like learning the dame or Jake you love is stepping out to be in another’s arms. And in either case, you can’t look away.

And for Miles Pike, he walks his own tightrope, trying to balance his secret with his mission and with learning that something deeper is going on. But for Miles, if he missteps, there’s no net at the bottom of his fall.

Tonight we’re gonna talk about some F-words. No, not the kind that would cause your mother to replace your corn flakes with soap flakes. Tonight, Irving Holt deals with his film, Grace Gunn her family, and for Bam Bam – it’s his fight. That doesn’t make things any less foul. But when your foes front, you gotta face those fears. Gunn for Hire – Episode 7

Every once in a while you see something you don’t want to see. Hear something you don’t want to hear. Something you can’t get out of that picture palace in your mind. There’s a showing every 10 minutes, and ushers are making sure you stay in your seat. And for Miles Pike and Irving Holt, two veterans of Weird War One, they’re about to have front row seats once again.

Oh, and just in case… Some things get a little descriptive in this episode.

Gunn for Hire – Episode 6

Trust. It’s hard to find these days. And the path to find someone you can trust is like looking for a piece of hay in a needle stack. You might find it, but it’s gonna hurt along the way. The good doctor, Miles Pike doesn’t know who he can trust in Capone’s Outfit. Irving Holt trusts he just got the photo of a lifetime of the Alley Cat Killer. Bam Bam is trying to learn how to trust anyone outside his own two fists. And Grace Gunn? Well, she’s landed a case. A case that you can trust is going to take her someplace she may not want to go. And yet, when it comes to the cold streets of Chicago, these four are going to have to learn to trust each other before they get burned.

Everybody loves making the easy choices. Cake or a dirt sandwich. A night at the Ritz or a week at Chateau de Hooverville. But when it comes to the tough choices, that’s where the butter really meets the bread. Gunn for Hire – Episode 4

Time we round out this crew. Next up is Miles Pike. He’s a cat who makes it his business to cure your ills, but don’t pay any attention to his vices. This back alley doc spends part of his free time playing sax pick up gigs in dance halls and speakeasys and the rest of his free time replacing the “a” with an “e” in “sax” when it come to playing with the ladies in those clubs.

And if that doesn’t draw enough heat, he’s smack dab in the middle of the three-sided war brewing in Capone’s outfit. If that doesn’t say ‘Physician Heal Thyself’ nothing does.

Gunn for Hire – Episode 3

Meet Bam Bam

Every crew needs their bruiser, and with these four, that’d be Tommy “Bam Bam” Prue. Some might want to call him Bam Bam because of his time in the boxing ring. It usually was the last thing the poor schmucks facing him ever heard. But sometimes I wonder if he got the Bam Bam name from what Grace did to him a while back.

He spent some time in the Big House for trying to take care of her, but now he’s out and looking for a rematch with life. Why he’s hanging out with the woman he tried to kill. Well, that’s a story for another time.
