Speakeasys in 1933 Chicago are a dying breed. In a few weeks, they won’t have to hide their dirty secrets and bathtub gin anymore. Well, the gin at least. As far as the secrets go, they’ll still be hidden and they’ll still be as dirty as the trash in a back alley after a two week garbage strike in August. But those are the secrets that Grace Gunn and Tommy Bam Bam Prue are trying to find out.

Life can be a lot like a carnival ride – kind of entertaining, but most of the time you just go in circles. Of course, a lot depends on which ride you choose. A ferris wheel is nice, an even balance of highs and lows, with some nice views in between. And if you’re lucky you get someone special to sit in the car with you for the ride. Then of course, some of us choose the roller coaster. It moves fast, then slow. Makes you laugh and scream at the same time – balanced between moments of sheer joy and abject terror.

If there’s one thing you need to know about the alleyways in Chicago, is that there’s a lot of twists and turns. If there’s two things you need to know about the alleyways in Chicago, is that you don’t walk through them unless you’re looking for trouble. And the third thing – it’s the secrets they hold. The saying goes, ‘Seeing is Believing.’ For folks scraping by in Chicago in 1933 if they can’t hold it in their hands, it’s phonus balonus and a waste of their time. But for Grace Gunn, our Shamus and her three compadres they might start seeing things with their peepers they don’t want to believe. And what they are getting themselves into could be just like those alleyways, with twists and turns and even a dead end or three.

Looks like our crew has got themselves caught up in something. Whether it’s related to their case, or part of something bigger, or hell, maybe a bit of both, remains to be seen.
