Gunn for Hire – Episode 22 “Affairs of the Hard”

Affairs are messy. They can leave a trail of sin and regret that the strongest bleach or bucket full of lye used a cleaning woman with arms as thick as your legs and a brush more abrasive than a tone deaf nightclub singer will never get out. And Grace Gunn, Tommy “Bam Bam” Prue and Irving Holt are learning more and more about the affair Helzberg’s been having – and with who – and where. The question is, how much mess did these two make, and who’s going to clean it up?

Gunn for Hire – Episode 21 “Trixie’s Apartment”

We all love going to parties. But nobody likes cleaning up afterward. Grace Gunn, Tommy “Bam Bam” Prue, Irving Holt and a cabbie who more than earned his fare just got done having a block party with some uninvited guests who were looking to make our heroes the snack tray. And now the question is, are they gonna clean up this party, or beat feet and leave it to the boys in blue. With a case to solve and no answers to questions they don’t want asked, my guess is the latter.

Gunn for Hire – Episode 20 “Violence”

Everybody loves having a good time, but one person’s good time can be another’s nightmare. Take our trio of Grace Gunn, Tommy “Bam Bam” Prue and Irving Holt. Right now, they’re not having a real whoopie time. But to the strange things from the shadows that they’re fighting? I’m betting they think this is a real stompin’ rub. But I’m gonna guess those table might turn before the night is out.

Gunn for Hire – Episode 19 “Bump In The Night”

Everybody knows the phrase, ‘the things that go bump in the night.’ And for our trio, there’s going to be more than a few of these things seeking them out ton this cold December night. And because trouble finds them like flies to a fresh cow pie, there’s likely going to be a lot of bumpin’ going on.

Gunn for Hire – Episode 18 “The Dance”

Speakeasys in 1933 Chicago are a dying breed. In a few weeks, they won’t have to hide their dirty secrets and bathtub gin anymore. Well, the gin at least. As far as the secrets go, they’ll still be hidden and they’ll still be as dirty as the trash in a back alley after a two week garbage strike in August. But those are the secrets that Grace Gunn and Tommy Bam Bam Prue are trying to find out.

Gunn for Hire – Episode 17 “Rollercoaster”

Life can be a lot like a carnival ride – kind of entertaining, but most of the time you just go in circles. Of course, a lot depends on which ride you choose. A ferris wheel is nice, an even balance of highs and lows, with some nice views in between. And if you’re lucky you get someone special to sit in the car with you for the ride. Then of course, some of us choose the roller coaster. It moves fast, then slow. Makes you laugh and scream at the same time – balanced between moments of sheer joy and abject terror.

Gunn for Hire – Episode 16 “Two Sides”

If there’s one thing you need to know about the alleyways in Chicago, is that there’s a lot of twists and turns. If there’s two things you need to know about the alleyways in Chicago, is that you don’t walk through them unless you’re looking for trouble. And the third thing – it’s the secrets they hold. The saying goes, ‘Seeing is Believing.’ For folks scraping by in Chicago in 1933 if they can’t hold it in their hands, it’s phonus balonus and a waste of their time. But for Grace Gunn, our Shamus and her three compadres they might start seeing things with their peepers they don’t want to believe. And what they are getting themselves into could be just like those alleyways, with twists and turns and even a dead end or three.

Gunn for Hire – Episode 15 “Pulling An Irving”

Looks like our crew has got themselves caught up in something. Whether it’s related to their case, or part of something bigger, or hell, maybe a bit of both, remains to be seen. One thing we do know for sure, is that Grace Gunn is down for the count, and that’s got her three friends shaking more than a soldier on leave in a Tomato Market. And if you know anything about these four, it’s probably about to get worse.

Oh yeah, and one more thing. See we got a contest going on. We’ve got a sleek pair of rats and mice – you know, the bones you roll in those back alleys – that’s dice for the rest of you. It’s a nice set from our chums at Norse Foundry. I’m no snitch, but here’s the deal. Simply leave a review for either this podcast or ‘The Adventures of Young & Holt.’ We’d like 5 stars but times are tough, so as many stars as you can spare. If for some reason your podcatcher doesn’t do them, then check out this tweet and retweet to all your adoring followers. And remember, if you do leave a review, you gotta search for ‘Fear the Boot Actual Play.’

Gunn for Hire – Episode 13 – “Pieces”

There’s few things worse than when you’re putting a puzzle together and can’t find all the pieces. It’s like the devil decided to look at all the hard work you put in on that 1000 piece job and then goes and takes pieces 750 and 825 and stuff them deep in the couch cushions, never to be seen again. But for Grace Gunn and crew, they’re still trying to piece together the edges of this little puzzle.
